"The Famous Buffalo Myths in Solo"

In Kasunanan Surakarta palace, there is a herd of buffalo that sacred trust, the Kebo Bule Kyai Slamet. Not just liked any buffalo, because these animals including important heritage belongs to the palace. The book chronicles the work of Raden Mas Solo (RM) Said, “Kebo Bule” ancestry is an animal or pet Klangenan Pakubuwono II, since the palace is still in Kartasura, about 10 kilometers west of the palace that now.

According to a famous poet Kasunanan Kraton Surakarta, Yosodipuro, ancestral buffalo leather with a distinctive color, namely Caucasian (white slightly reddish), was a gift from Roxburgh to Pakubuwono Regent II, which is applied as a “cucuk lampah” (guardian) of a heritage palace named Kyai Slamet. Just for the record, until now the kingdom was never willing to explain what form this Slamet Kyai heritage.

"Because the charge of guarding and escorting Kyai Slamet heritage, the people mistakenly refer to this as “ kebo bule” Kyai Slamet Kebo,'' said Deputy Pengageng Sasono Wilopo Surakarta Palace, Kanjeng Raden Aryo (KRA) Winarno Kusumo,
That said, when Pakubuwono II find a location for a new palace, in 1725, ancestors of “kebo bule” bed and board bed and board is removed, and the journey followed by the courtiers of the palace, until finally stopping at a place which is now the Kraton Surakarta Kasunanan-about 500 meters south of the Office Solo City Hall.

For the people of Solo, and the surrounding towns, such as Karanganyar, Sragen, Boyolali, Klaten, Sukoharjo and Wonogiri, Kebo Bule Kyai Slamet is no longer a strange animal. Each night a Sura by pengganggalan Java, or the evening of 1 Muharam according to the Islamic calendar (Hijriah), a herd of sacred bed and board is always dikirab, a “cucuk lampah” a heritage palace.1 Sura evening ritual procession itself is very long-awaited community. Thousands of people poured around the palace, also on the streets of the procession will pass.Community believes will be blessed if you watched the procession from the palace.

Carnival itself takes place at midnight, usually at midnight, depending on the "willingness" from bed and board Kyai Slamet. Because, sometimes just out of bed and board sacred enclosure after 01.00. Puasaka carnival is entirely dependent on the bed and board are very sacred Kyai Slamet. If the time comes, usually without having herded flocks “kebo bule” will walk into the courtyard of the palace enclosure. Thus, the procession began. Sacred buffalo herd will be in the forefront, guarding the palace Kyai Slamet heritage brought by the courtiers of the palace. The crowd was menyemut from the palace to travel along the procession passed.

And this is interesting: those addressing the sacredness buffalo Kyai Slamet such a way that tends to not make sense. They follow the procession to walk, fight each other trying to touch or touch the body “kebo bule”. Not quite touching the body of bed and board, these people continued to walk behind a water buffalo, waiting for a flock of albino kebo pooping. Once the dirt falls into the street, people were fighting each other to get it. Does not make sense. But they believe that the buffalo dung will give a blessing, salvation, and abundant fortune. They called the fight over the dirt as a blessing or a tradition of seeking blessings ngalap Kyai Slamet.
